Still here
posted by Susie at 9:59 PM ·
I once read somewhere that you shouldn't apologize to your blog readers when you've been away for a while. That's a rude rule, don't you think? So anyway, to all 3 of you who read this, I'm sorry!

Work is extremely busy (we've been breaking sales records daily and that's great but it keeps us all on our toes), therefore my brain is pretty much a glob of goo by the time I get home each day. So I've been just watching television with Jeff most evenings, which has been nice.

Time seems to completely fly by when things are this hectic. I told my mom a while back that it's like go-go-go-go-go-go-go-go-go and then you get, like, 2 hours to rest on the weekend and then it's go-go-go-go-go-go again. Sometimes I'm scared that I'll wake up the next day and I'll be 85!

I'd love for life to go by slower, but I have a lot to be thankful for and I try to be mindful of that. I guess the best we can do is buckle up and enjoy the roller coaster!

I want to be...

Just thinking a little bit tonight. A few of those ten things I listed above come rather easily to me. Most of them require a lot of hard work. A couple are contradictory and almost impossible to have together, while others depend on each other to exist. At least one has to occur before a few of the others can happen.

Sometimes I think I'd like to see 5 or 10 years into the future. I like to believe that I could breathe a sigh of relief if I could see that I would accomplish much of what I want to in the next few years.

Darn, I missed Earth Hour
posted by Susie at 10:49 PM ·
Apparently, Earth Hour was from 8:00pm-9:00pm earlier this evening. During Earth Hour, we were encouraged to turn off all our lights to conserve energy.

I really hate that I missed this very special time. If I had remembered to celebrate Earth Hour, I would have turned on every single light in my home. I would also have plugged up every single appliance, lamp, computer, television, hair dryer, etc. and turned them all on their highest possible setting. And I would have started up both of our cars and let them run for 60 minutes. And just for good measure, I would turn on all the water faucets, too. Because I'm stubborn like that.

And you see, I think this global warming thing is a total hoax. This probably makes me sound like some sort of conspiracy theorist, but I don't care because I know it's the truth. The number one reason I feel that it is all a big joke is this. When we had a few years that were warmer than others in the recent past, "global warming" was the popular scareword. But now that things are cooling off again, they've had to change their jargon to "climate change". Why are we supposed to be afraid of this? Why are we told that it's our fault that things happen like hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, mild winters and cool summers? Because those who perpetrate this huge lie profit from our gullibility, stupidity, and lack of faith in the Creator of this planet we inhabit.

So we're all supposed to be "green", buy expensive light bulbs, wear recycled Coke bottles, and participate in silly events like Earth Hour. Meanwhile, temperatures will continue to go through cycles, storms will still rage, and Al Gore and his crazy friends laugh all the way to the bank (where they save their money until they're ready to buy their next private jet or 15,000 square foot home).

Michael Crichton actually addressed this much better than I ever could. Some quotes: "You think man can destroy the planet? What intoxicating vanity." and "Earth has survived everything in its time. It will certainly survive us." and "We've been residents here for the blink of an eye. If we're gone tomorrow, the earth will not miss us."

Indeed. So why the big hullabaloo? I personally don't get it.

Fun on Friday #7

Appetizer
What does the color dark green make you think of?

The two blankets I bought before we got married. We're still using them today (7.5 years later!). One of them isn't so dark green anymore, it's more of a grey-green-brown because it's so worn out.

Soup
How many cousins do you have?

Lots! I have more on my Dad's side than on my Mom's side. I've probably got about 20-25 total.

Salad
On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being highest, how honest are you?

Well, I'd be lying if I said a 10.

Main Course
Name something that is truly free.

Love is free. Thoughts are free.

Dessert
Using the letters in the word SPRING, write a sentence.

Sweets provide really intense nasty gas. (That's gross, but it's all I could think of!)

1. Some relationships are meant to last forever.
2. Celtic Woman is the last concert I saw; it was awesome.
3. Spring should be here by now!
4. Oh no! I forgot to get some hair gel at the store!
5. I've recently started to learn a lot more about my job.
6. Jeff never fails to make me smile.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to resting, tomorrow my plans include a date with my hubby and Sunday, I want to last forever!
